Is Your Next Vacation Hiding in Your Watchlist?

I just got back from a week with my OA colleagues at conference, full of new ideas and a reminder of just how much this industry is always shifting. One thing that’s been trending: more than half of travelers worldwide now say a movie or TV show has influenced where they want to go next. For Gen Z and Millennials, it’s over 80%.

This tracks with what I’ve been seeing from clients for a while now. Someone watches Emily in Paris and suddenly they need a weekend wandering Le Marais. When the new season of The White Lotus drops, I anticipate my inbox filling up with questions about Cannes, St. Tropez, and Monaco. And I have a feeling Wuthering Heights and the new Downton Abbey film are about to send a whole wave of people chasing the moors of Yorkshire — searches there are already climbing fast. It’s not a coincidence — it’s become one of the most natural ways people fall in love with a destination before they’ve ever set foot there.

I love this, honestly, because it means the “inspiration” part of trip planning is already done by the time a client comes to me. My job just gets to be the fun part: turning that daydream into a real itinerary.

So here’s my question for you — what have you watched lately that made you think, “I need to go there”? Tell me the show, the movie, even the one scene that got you. I’ll take it from there.
